MailPuck is a Mac application that reads new messages in Apple's native mailing app and prepares draft replies for you to review. It never sends an email on its own. Every draft waits in your Drafts folder until you read it, edit it if you want to, and send it yourself.
MailPuck uses a "bring your own key" model. You connect your own API key from your chosen AI provider (currently Google Gemini). When a draft is generated, the relevant email content is sent directly from your Mac to your provider's servers, using your own key and your own account, to generate the reply text. MailPuck itself does not see, store, or have access to that content in transit.
Because this happens under your own provider account, that provider's own privacy terms govern how your content is handled on their side, not MailPuck's. Please check your provider's own policy for details, including whether their free tier uses submitted content to improve their models (this varies by provider and by whether billing is enabled on your account).
Your setup (persona preferences, signature, API key, and similar settings) is stored locally on your own Mac, not on a MailPuck server. Your API key specifically is stored using the operating system's own secure storage, not in plain text.
If you submit a request through this website, for example requesting early access, entering a beta code, or asking to be notified about a future platform, we collect the information you enter (such as your email address and the platform you selected) so we can respond to that request or notify you. We do not use this for any other purpose.
If you send feedback or a crash report from within the app, the content of that message (and, for a crash report, technical details about the error) is sent to us so we can read and act on it.
If and when paid subscriptions are available, billing will be handled by a third-party payment processor. MailPuck does not store your card details directly.
As MailPuck adds features, for example multi-provider support or a hosted version, this page will be updated to accurately reflect what the app does at that time.
